The all new Honda Accord is one of the best-engineered and most competent sedans on the US market, and thanks to the Japanese automaker's new Earth Dreams series of engines (which are also included in their hybrid systems), it is also one of the most efficient.

Now, they have released additional information about the plug-in hybrid version of the, which is, according to Honda, the 'most fuel-efficient sedan in America'. It gets an EPA rating of 115 MPGe in electric mode, and can run on electricity alone for up to 21 km or 13 miles. It achieves this impressive all-electric range, for a vehicle of this type, thanks to a 6.7 kWh battery pack, which takes less than an hour to charge with the optional 240 volt charger they offer.

On the combined cycle, the Accord Plug-In Hybrid achieves a combined rating of 46 mpg combined (47 mpg city / 46 mpg highway). It starts at $39,780, and it is currently on sale in 'selected' dealers from the states of New York and California.
